Join Hands With Other Writers To Compose A Novel in NaNoWriMo

“There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed,” said Ernest Hemingway.

Yes, being a novelist myself, I can clearly tell you that writing a novel is hard work. From the conception of the idea to plotting, developing characters, writing, revising, re-revising, re-re-revising, to waiting for the book to publish. And after the book gets published, turning into a promoter and salesperson to get readers to notice the book…there’s one trial after the other. But let me also tell you this. It all becomes worthwhile on the very first moment you hold the published copy of your book in your hand.

Of course, the world is getting quicker in every field. And I know that there are people who are speeding out books in a matter of months. I, personally, can never boast to equal that. I have already spent over three months just in revising my novel!

However, if you too have a book in your heart that you wish to write, but the thought of slogging upon it for month after month seems too daunting or boring, then NaNoWriMo is just the thing for you.

NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month in which thousands of writers from all over the world participate with the aim of completing their individual novels within a month. People like participating in NaNoWriMo as it gives them a reason to really become dedicated to their book, helps them to maintain their motivation, and also gets them encouragement and impetus from other writers participating in the event.

If you wish to take advantage of this year’s NaNoWriMo, there’s no time to lose. It is going to start from the 1st of November and would continue till the 30th of November.

However, it might still be that you wish to participate in NaNoWriMo, but can’t imagine devoting so much time to writing even for a month. Well, here’s good news.  This year, you can collaborate with writers from all over the world to develop one record-breaking book!

According to the news I got, Grammarly plans to organize GrammoWriMo in which they plan to make the largest number of authors from all over the world to collaborate in developing one single book of about 50,000 words.

But let me first tell you what Grammarly is. Grammarly is an automated proofreader. That is, it automatically checks users’ documents for mistakes and plagiarism and also makes ‘context-optimized vocabulary suggestions’ to improve the document’s content.

So, for this year’s NaNoWriMo, Grammarly is organizing a special project called #GrammoWriMo to bring together the largest number of authors working together on the same book. To participate in this, all you need to do is to get registered by adding your email address at: http://www.grammarly.com/grammowrimo/. Once you are registered, you’ll be added to the queue of writers contributing to the project. Each writer will contribute to the book turn by turn. All will, of course, be kept informed about the story development. And when your turn to contribute comes, you’ll be notified. And then you can contribute up to 800 words to the chapter that has been assigned to you.

And when the month is over, Grammarly aims to publish the book that could boast of being written by the largest number of authors.

But if you wish to be one of those writers, there’s no time to waste. I think the last date of registering is October 25, 2013

You can Sign up for this project at: http://www.grammarly.com/grammowrimo/ . If you register, you can also stay updated about the project by following @GrammoWriMo on Twitter.

    1. Yeah, Life takes its own decisions and won’t listen to our pleas.
Well, I have never taken part in the writing month event as I can’t even imagine completing a book in one month. But this collective writing sounded interesting, so decided to go along.

    1. Thanks, but I’m not participating in NaNoWriMo. I can never complete a novel in a month. But I’ll be contributing in Grammarly’s book.
Wish you the best for all your endeavors 🙂
